śniadania, umyliśmy się wodą z węża ogrodowego i koło godziny 9 ruszyliśmy na podbój miasta, które już podczas wczorajszego spaceru do sklepu po prostu nas zachwyciło!\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ca podzielone przez rzekę Vardar na dwie równiutkie części (nowoczesna część z hotelami i pasażami handlowymi oraz cześć muzułmańska gdzie wciąż czuć powiew orientu). Po rozpadzie Jugosławii miasto stało się stolicą niezależnego państwa \u0026nbsp;– Macedonii. A wcześniej wiele się działo – panowali tu Ilirowie, Rzymianie, Bizantyjczycy, Bułgarzy, Turcy, Serbowie… Pierwsze osady pojawiły się tu już w neolicie. Za panowania cesarza Justyniana Wielkiego miasto urosło do rangi bardzo ważnego i niezwykle rozwiniętego ośrodka. Plac Macedonia jest otoczony komunistycznymi blokami, które są w tym momencie zabudowywane nowymi fasadami stylizowanymi na kamienice. Przy Placu Macedonia znajduje się też jeden z najważniejszych zabytków Skopje - kamienny most, przez który przechodzi się do starej, osmańskiej części miasta (Czarszija), którą zamieszkują Albańczycy.\u0026nbsp;Miasto ciągle się rozbudowuje a wszystko to dzieje się za sprawą programu rozbudowy \u003Ci\u003ESkopje 2014\u003C\/i\u003E. Liczne pomniki, fontanny... bardzo nam się tam spodobało. Miasto nie jest jeszcze wykończone, jest to jeden wielki plac budowy, przez co nie ma tu, aż tak licznych tłumów turystów jak na przykład w chorwackim Dubrowniku... możemy więc śmiało powiedzieć, że byliśmy w Skopje zanim było to modne ;) Z pewnością za parę lat miasto będzie oblegane przez turystów, tym bardziej, że Macedonia otwiera się na tanie linie lotnicze, lecz jeszcze nie z Polski. Tam można zaznać odrobiny orientu, ponieważ jest to dzielnica typowo turecka. Znajduje się tu wiele małych sklepików oraz Stary Bazar. Każdy z nas zamówił sobie po pizzy za 1,80€ i była to najlepsza pizza jaką jedliśmy na bolku! Duża, tania, a na dodatek w lokalu podładowaliśmy telefony i mogliśmy skorzystać z toalety. Okazało się, że jest muzułmaninem i spieszy się na modlitwę, bo dosłownie wybiegł z lokalu w stronę meczetu. Następnie twierdza została umocniona w X i XI wieku,w sumie niewiele jednak wiadomo o średniowiecznej i późniejszej historii tego obiektu. Zbudowany z kamiennych bloków most ma dwanaście przęseł i długość 214 m. Most łączy współczesne centrum miasta ze starą dzielnicą osmańską (czarsziją) i Wielkim Bazarem, na lewym brzegu Wardaru. Kamienny Most został wzniesiony w okresie panowania sułtana Mehmeda II. Pierwsza wzmianka o jego istnieniu pochodzi z 1469, kiedy sporządzano rejestr majątku należącego meczetu Aladża (Isy-Bega). Kilkakrotnie w swojej historii ulegał poważnym uszkodzeniom. W czasie wielkiego trzęsienia ziemi w 1555 zostały poważnie uszkodzone cztery przęsła mostu. W latach 1895-1897 kolejne powodzie naruszyły konstrukcję mostu. W 1944 był przygotowany do wysadzenia przez Niemców, ale udało się zapobiec eksplozji. W 1992 podjęto renowację mostu, aby przywrócić mu pierwotny wygląd. W przeszłości most pełnił funkcję miejsca straceń. W 1689 stracono na nim Karposza, przywódcę powstania antytureckiego.
